The Eazi Sound

The StarBoy Worldwide recording artiste known as MR EAZI with real name Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade (born in Port Harcourt), but studied in Ghana where he graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from  Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. His musical story started from Ghana where he was able to collaborate with Ghanaian music big names like Efya (label mate), Sarkodie and some other Ghanaian acts.
Its-your-boy-Eeeazzi…….has been his musical sample known by his fan, he possesses a unique deep bass voice and falls into the same voice category with Nigerian’s own Blackmagic, Ajebutter and Pepenazi. His melody and tune has been able to differentiate him from the big names mentioned above.

Recently he was among the nominees for the Prestigious Next Rated category of the Headies Award where he emerged as the winner of the 2016 edition, a category that saw Tekno disqualified after refusing to honour several invitations from the organizers for photo shoots and interviews in preparation for the award ceremony.
Over the last two years between 2015 – 2016, Mr Eazi has released debut singles that have successfully hit the air waves like Skin Tight, Ohima (featured by DJ Spinall), Hollup, Sample you, Shitor, Fre Me and recently Leg Over.
No doubt, with his recent jump to fame he has won the heart of many Nigerian and African Music lovers and has been described by many as the one for the future, Branding his Genre “Banku Music” (a subset of Afrobeats) which is characterized by laid back deliveries on majorly afro-soulful instrumentals, influenced by his Ghanaian/Nigerian cultural upbringing. But is he really the one for the future? A question that needs analysis, and that is why the Boxanalyst crew has decided to do justice to the EAZI SOUND. We all love him and his music but the problem we might not seem to notice now is that he sounds good when he is on a particular slow tempo with hard kick and few percussions, he definitely will murder the beat, when you try to listen to at least four (4) of his hit singles you discover you can actually sing almost all his lyric to just one of his beat and it will fit-in owning to the fact that he possesses just a particular tune. The implication of this is that in the long run, Africans especially Nigerians will get fed up with the EAZI SOUND.  History has shown that Artistes who lack the ability to adjust and adapt to the continuous changing trend of music in Africa and Nigeria in particular have been known to have their reign cut short, that is why the likes of 2Face, Timaya, Oritsefemi, Sound Sultan, Kcee and many more have been able to maintain their lead and keep their fans and fame intact.
The EAZI SOUND is what we enjoy but how long is it gonna last, 2, 3 or 4 more years? That’s just the question for the gods but we hope to see him bring a new sound and new tempo gaining more listening ears.
We all from the Boxanalyst crew wish Mr Eazi well.
